UNIVERSAL CITY, California — It was a pair of four-peats for "The Twilight Saga" at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, as the vampire romance not only took home Best Kiss, but the night's big award — Best Movie — as well.
The flick beat out fellow contenders "The Hunger Games," "Bridesmaids," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" and "The Help" for its fourth consecutive Golden Popcorn in the category.
Stars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone and producer Wyck Godfrey took the stage to accept the award from presenter and Stewart's "Panic Room" co-star, Jodie Foster.
"Thank you so much, you guys, I know I always say the same thing," Stewart said. "I've been promoting 'Snow White,' and I get asked a lot of questions, especially about 'Twilight,' which I love. The most common is, like, 'God, you must be so happy to get away from it. You must be so happy to distance yourself from it as far away as you possibly can.' And I'm like, 'Shut up! What are you talking about?' I know we've been here for a while, so really, thank you very much."
"We really have so many people to thank, not only for this award but for the past few years," Lautner chimed in. "But first and foremost, we have to thank you guys. I want to thank the whole entire cast and crew for their hard work and passion on this. Our producers, Wyck Godfrey and Karen Rosenfelt. Our incredible director Bill Condon, all of Summit Entertainment. And I forgot a big one, the creator of this thing, producer and author Stephenie Meyer. I'm so excited for you guys to see the last and final part of 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' in theaters November 16."
Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. See what just happened at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards!

Fierce Coldplay clip leaked to the Net on Saturday.

Rihanna on the set of the "Princess of China" video

Coldplay and Rihanna have been teasing their "Princess of China" video for a while now. On Saturday (June 2), the clip leaked ahead of its scheduled Monday release date.
The trippy video is full of surreal images that play on the song's references to Asia, with Chris Martin and Rihanna donning all sorts of ninja and ninja-goddess couture. A desert, the sky and some ancient-looking Chinese palaces all serve as backgrounds. Martin and Rih Rih also do some sword-wielding and ninja kicks, for good measure.
In more emotional parts of the clip, Rihanna and Martin, playing star-crossed lovers, kneel in the desert, forehead to forehead, as they mourn the loss of their love. But the moving image soon turns violent as they float through the air and partake in a ninja battle.
Much like the characters in the song, the onscreen characters are torn up about their dying love. And while the love story is at the center of the clip, Rihanna's look is also a standout as she appears in several forms: multi-armed goddess, heartbroken geisha and fierce warrior princess.
The official June 4 release date had been pushed back from May before leaking to the Net on Saturday, the same day Rihanna dropped some behind-the-scenes photos on Facebook. In the images, her hair is done up in a geisha bun and she wears long, fringe earrings. They're similar to shots she released back in March from the video shoot.
"Her bit on our record is my favorite bit," the Coldplay frontman told MTV News last fall about Rihanna's feature on Mylo Xyloto. "When the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it. And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we've been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music."

Bieber pays homage to Motown soul with new Believe single.
By Jocelyn Vena

Justin Bieber's new single "Die in Your Arms" is full of funky beats, Motown harmonies and good old-fashioned romantic longing. In the song, produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Bieber just wants to make the apple of his eye believe he loves her so much that he'd rather die in her arms than be away from her for too long.

The song's vintage swing, finger snaps and melodies certainly recall the heyday of feel-good R&B from the 1960s, which is mirrored in the song's sentiment. On the chorus, Bieber sings, "Honestly, the truth is, if I could just die in your arms/ I wouldn't mind/ 'Cause every time you touch me/ I just die in your arms/ It feels so right/ So baby, baby, baby, please don't stop girl."

In keeping with the song's vintage feel, at one point, he breaks from singing to say, "Oh, baby, I know loving you ain't easy, but it sure is worth a try."

"Die" is the follow-up to the more pop-'n'-b-leaning "Boyfriend," which he dropped back in March. Last week he dropped a remix to the song, featuring 2 Chainz, Mac Miller and Asher Roth, which certainly ups the song's hip-hop ante quite a bit. "And we can be like Selena and Biebs/ Wild and free, a couple disobedient teens/ Sneaking out to meet like two o' clock in the eve/ Paparazzi ain't a problem, we just hide on the beach," Roth spits on the track.

Bieber is currently abroad promoting his June 19 album release, Believe, amid allegations he got into a scuffle with a paparazzo over the weekend while out in Los Angeles with girlfriend Selena Gomez.

"i hope when you guys hear #BELIEVE you finally understand how i feel about you. I appreciate and love you. this is about us. thank you," he tweeted over the weekend about the album release, shortly after news broke of the fray with the photographer.

See what the MTV Buzzworthy Blog has to say about Justin's retro new sound

Above the Buzz examines how these former pop princesses serve as examples of how stars can re-brand themselves again and again.
By Jocelyn Vena

Both Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson dominated headlines this week. Not since the late '90s have these two duked it out for so much media coverage.

However there's a remarkable difference in what's happening today to what was happening then: Then, everyone was talking about their music and their pop star personas. Where Britney was a Lolita who proclaimed virginity while dancing provocatively in belly-baring tops, Jessica was innocent and sweet and didn't dare anger her minister daddy. Jessica released songs that put her big voice on display, and Brit focused on songs that put eyes on her dazzling dance moves and her ear for dance beats.

A lot has changes in the years since then. What's interesting is that, despite their seemingly different personalities, in retrospect, they have a lot more in common than was initially apparent: They are both down-home country girls who have built empires that few can touch. Both have had very public career highs met with very public personal lows. Both have loved boy banders. Both have even documented their lives on reality shows, albeit with very different outcomes.

With almost 15 years separating the women they are now from those girls they were then, it seems they are looking to change it up.

At a time where the pop world is filled with plenty of younger pop princesses looking for their time to shine, Britney and Jessica seem comfortable enough with their own musical legacies to let them all have their moments. And, they should be at ease. They have both been incredibly successful in that world, having sold millions of albums, had huge radio singles and made music that is uniquely their own. And while Simpson has let her music take a back seat to other projects in the past few years, Spears is still a working singer who sells out tours and tops the charts.

These days, Jessica seems focused on maintaining the post-pop star second act she launched several years back. She's a fashion mogul with a billion-dollar empire that has outfitted fashionistas with reasonably priced essentials like platforms and bags. She also judges up-and-coming fashion talent on NBC's "Fashion Star," sharing with new designers her own wisdom on breaking into the industry. But, always savvy enough to keep people guessing, she's expanded her brand even further.

Now, she is also the latest mommy mogul. Jessica just added another gig to her post-pop star career — that of the A-list mom. Just this week, she welcomed her first child, Maxwell Drew, into the world. We expect she'll use that experience to re-launch herself yet again. We should expect fashion lines for stylish toddlers. And who wouldn't want to see a reality show that follows the new mom and her family?

It seems that, like Simpson, Spears might be looking to take a break from music for a moment. Having already given birth to two sons and tried her hand at the worlds of fashion and beauty, Spears is now a frontrunner to judge "X Factor." Her own experiences in the industry certainly make her the perfect candidate to give advice on the ups and downs of pop superstardom. She's experienced both with the entire world watching. While Spears' other projects (clothing line, fragrances) have generally been overshadowed by her music career, this rumored gig might be the first one to take the attention away from her pop fame while using it for all it's worth.

Spears is probably up for the gig because she is basically the heir to the Madonna legacy. She truly understands how to be a pop star. And the rumors that she might join Simon Cowell on the show seem to be intriguing Spears' critics and non-devotees more than anything she's done in the past few years. Spears might have found her perfect next chapter.

Right now, it's unclear how these new career paths will shape the future for Simpson and Spears — musically and otherwise. But, as has always been the case for them, no one doubts they will redefine what it means to be a female pop star. They are women who aren't willing to go quietly into the night. For Spears and Simpson, it seems they want it all or nothing. And, who can blame them?

What would you like to see Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson do next? Share your thoughts below!

'If I don't take it past where they took it, then what the hell am I doin'?' MC tells MTV News of his quest for rap's #1 spot.
By Rob Markman
Now that Big Sean is finally famous, the Detroit MC has his eyes set on hip-hop immortality. Kanye West once told the 24-year old spitter he was going to be the best rapper of all-time — he couldn't get a bigger endorsement.
"He actually told me that I was going to be the best. But I took that as the potential, because he speaks with so much passion," Big Sean told MTV News in New York last week. "What he meant was, I'm his protégé, he took me under his wing. I'm in the studio hanging with him and Jay-Z, I'm in the studio with Nas, I'm in the studio with everybody, and it's like, if I don't take it past where they took it, then what the hell am I doin'?"
Last year, B.I.G. dropped his debut album, Finally Famous, released a few high-powered singles and landed on MTV News' Hottest MCs in the Game list. Recently, Sean has been cutting his teeth alongside some pretty capable MCs. On G.O.O.D. Music's "Mercy" single, he spits alongside Pusha T, Kanye and 2 Chainz, on "Slight Work," he goes toe-to-toe with Wale, and on Meek Mill's "Burn," Sean volleyed bars back and forth with the MMG standout.
On Friday (June 1), Lil Wayne released "My Homies Still," the first single from his upcoming I Am Not a Human Being II album, and it features none other than Big Sean Don. When rhyming in tandem with Tune, the G.O.O.D. Music MC juggles rapid-fire bars and also inspires Weezy to repeatedly chant "Go stupid, go stupid," just as Sean did on his hit single "Dance (A$$)."
Whether the "My Last" lyricist will fulfill Yeezy's big-time rap prophecy remains to be seen, but he has been keeping some great company. Mix that with his own natural ability, and the future looks bright for Big Sean. He likens his rhyme innovation to the late Steve Jobs.
"It's like natural progression, it's like evolution," he said. "If Steve Jobs would've made the same cell phone, the big-ass, dumbass phone that we be all talkin' on instead of the iPhone, then it wasn't no point for him to be who he was."
It sounds like a tall order, but during Big Daddy Kane's early 1990s reign, no one predicted that then-rookies Jay-Z and the Notorious B.I.G. would be mentioned among rap's greats either. At this juncture in his career, Big Sean's hunger remains his biggest asset. "I'm 24 years old, and I'm just finding myself as an artist now," he explained. "I be foolin' on the track. You hear me coming up with my own ad libs, my own lingo, my own words, but it's not just because I'm funny and I'm a fool; it's because I'm tryna push the envelope of hip-hop.
"I'm tryna create something new," he continued. "That's when the greatest things always happen: when you try to create something new."

'I've listened to their music since I was a child,' says the R&B diva, who recorded 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love.'
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Larry Carroll

You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin.

In early February, reports began circulating that Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven," working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her Stronger With Each Tear album, due Monday.

But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering another Zeppelin classic — the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" — for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the Essence Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine.

"I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' — it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun."

Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon.

"I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.

'I enjoy doin' different records like that and not just hip-hop records,' Deuce tells MTV News.
By Rob Markman

You'd be hard-pressed to find a rapper in higher demand than 2 Chainz these days. With his debut solo album still months away, the charismatic Atlanta MC has logged a ton of features for the likes of Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Young Jeezy, Big K.R.I.T. and Kreayshawn. In fact, Deuce has received so many feature calls he has decided to fall back so he can concentrate on his solo album — save for a few special requests, of course.

"Maybe a few crossover records," 2 Chainz told MTV News on Sunday during the Atlanta stop on Drake's Club Paradise Tour. "To celebrate the #BELIEVEtour coming ... I might need to drop this #BOYFRIENDremix @2Chainz @MacMiller," he wrote.

Mac responded with a tweet of his own, writing, "Uh oh," helping to build anticipation for the track.

No word on when Bieber plans to drop the "Boyfriend" remix, and what it will sound like is anyone's guess, but 2 Chainz assured us that he didn't have to tone down his trap rap to fit in with the baby-faced 18-year-old pop star. "I'm able to express myself in different ways, so I enjoy doin' different records like that and not just hip-hop records, so it's cool," he said.

After JB's remix comes out, it may be a while before fans hear any new rap collaborations from 2 Chainz, unless they are slated for his upcoming Based on a T.R.U. Story, which drops August 14. "It's not that I don't have ammunition for people — it's just that I want to focus on trying to make the album of the year," he said confidently. "That's something that I put out there, that's something that I'm striving to do, and so I may do features that make sense, something that's not in my genre, but I think I took care of all rap artists."

2 Chainz is rolling toward his highly anticipated LP, but on Tuesday he hit an unexpected bump in the road after he was arrested in New York's LaGuardia Airport after airport security found what they described as "brass knuckles" in the rapper's carry-on luggage. In an exclusive interview with MTV News, 2 Chainz explained that what authorities called a weapon was actually a gold four-finger ring.

"They tried to assassinate my character, they tried to assassinate my swag," the rapper said after he was released from jail. "It was just a negative dilemma earlier where someone misconstrued a piece of jewelry for a weapon and stuff."

What are you expecting from Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" remix with 2 Chainz and Mac Miller? Pop Queen's inclusion of lines from her 'She's Not Me' makes medley seem more like dig than tribute.
By John Mitchell

Madonna's diva rivalry with Lady Gaga may be taken up a notch when her MDNA tour kicks off Thursday at Tel Aviv, Israel's Ramat Gan Stadium. In new rehearsal footage, the 53-year-old legend is seen singing a mashup of her "Express Yourself" and Gaga's "Born This Way" that concludes with a few lines from Madonna's copycat-shaming "She's Not Me."

Last year, when Lady Gaga released her hit single "Born This Way," controversy erupted over the song's similarity to Madonna's "Express Yourself." (Never mind that much of the resemblance is rooted in both songs' use of a pretty common disco chord progression.) At first, things seemed cool between the two singers. They'd always gotten along publicly, and Gaga told Jay Leno that M's camp reached out to say all was well in the diva-verse with regard to the songs' similarities (something later denied by Madonna's people).

<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Madonna - "Express Yourself"" id="vid:13328" width="415" height="255">

The whole thing appeared to have blown over until earlier this year, when Madonna was promoting her movie "W.E." and her Super Bowl halftime performance during an ABC News interview. Madonna was asked what she thought of the comparisons, and in response she called Lady Gaga "reductive."

Gaga's been pretty quiet throughout, but it's hard not to wonder if she'll stay that way once word of this latest swipe makes its way to her ears. (Gaga is currently in Asia on her Born This Way Ball tour, and she was recently forced to cancel a planned show in Indonesia after receiving threats from fundamentalist Islamic groups in the country.)

New leaked footage from rehearsals for Madonna's own road show showcases a reportedly planned mashup of "Express Yourself" and "Born This Way," and while the resemblance between the two songs remains as striking as ever, that's not the real story. Just those two songs layered together could have been fun: The two stars certainly have overlapping fanbases, who no doubt would have delighted in the winking acknowledgement of M's influence on Gaga. But Madonna complicates things by concluding the medley with a few lines from her Hard Candy track "She's Not Me," a song about Madonna being emulated by another woman.

The inclusion of "She's Not Me" makes the medley seem like yet another scathing dig at Gaga. It's unknown whether Madonna was just goofing around during rehearsals or whether she plans to include that final digging refrain throughout her tour.

Is Madonna taking things too far, or are we misreading things? Good-natured ribbing or mean-spirited digging? You tell us in the comments below!

<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga - "Born This Way"" id="vid:742058" width="415" height="255">
